Assistant professor Takayuki Kosaka created a game that teaches kids to eat (and like) vegetables. In his game carrots, green peppers and tomatoes are bullets, that the player uses to save the city from giant vegetables. When they run out of ammo, they must put down their gun, eat the matching food and smile into a camera placed on the gun (in order to associate eating vegetables with the positive feelings of smiling). Only after performing these steps, the game will resume. food practice shooter

Prep Pad

The Prep Pad is a digital scale that not only weighs your ingredients, but also provides you with nutritional information about your meals via an iOS app, called Countertop. The app compares your meal with suggested protein, carb and fat levels and it also remembers your previous meals to determine whether you’re having balanced meals. Prep Pad

Fresh fruit snack

To increase fruit consumption among kids, we decided to do a labjam about a fresh fruit snack, at which joy and convenience are central. There already are a lot of snacks and desserts which contain fruit, but in the most cases the fruit was heated and often only a flavoring is used. Our fruit snack has to offer a good and healthy alternative for cookies and candy. Fresh fruit snack

Vegetable powder

In the processing of fruit and vegetables, residuals like trimmings and pulp arise. The Vezelfabriek processes these residuals to dried powders which are full of fibers and other nutrients. By enriching products with these powders, their nutritional values could be increased. This labjam was executed in the occasion to create potential applications of these powders. Vegetable powder
